As I've written about in the events page on this site I'm about to celebrate 10 years of the dreamcoat by walking for our dreams. I'll be doing 4 walks over the summer, each one with a theme based on a dream that's come through the coat over these last 10 years.
The first walk is about a dream given by Jonny Blue Eyes in 2012 and it was 'Fall in love with yourself'. Jonny thought this dream was very important, in fact so important that he thought it should go in every single pocket. I wasn't sure that I wanted to ditch all those other dreams but I could see his point, and as time's gone on since then can see it more and more.
What does it mean to fall in love with yourself and why is it so important? There's a lot I feel I can say about that, but for starters it's very different to narcissism! It's about self compassion and self worth, two things I think we could all benefit from getting a lot better at. Why would it be such a benefit? Well, how do you feel when you're falling in love? Generous, open, happy, full, free, warm, kind, those are great things to feel and double bonus is they make you want to share that feeling with everything around you, and everything around you looks brighter and lighter and people feel that love and respond to it and suddenly you're spreading a highly contagious love bug!
Something like that... I'm going to be pondering this over the next couple of weeks and I invite you to join me, tell me what it means to you. Meanwhile this guy says it pretty well...
"Fall in love again…with your life and your dream. Take time to appreciate the brilliance, beauty, and magnificence of your own life. Never forget that you are an unrepeatable miracle! Great things are supposed to happen to you and through you. Care for yourself, and nurture your vitality, energy, and life force. Silence your own unforgiving spirit, and extreme self-criticism, that can steal your joy, harm your health, and stunt your personal growth. Give up microwaved solutions to challenges, and shortcuts to success. You can’t pull up a plant up from its roots to make it grow. The things that really matter in life take purposeful planning, time, love, and care. Do your work, stay the course, live in the present, and love yourself even more than you have in the past. You deserve! In pursuit of your GREATNESS" ~ Les Brown.
